Poetry You Can Hear

Hello,
So glad you came to see what's happening here. I built this page so my faraway grandchildren could find an interesting poem to hear when they visit.  You'll find a list of fun activities, too. For parents and grandparents, there are some suggested places to visit.

I'll be changing out and adding to the poems, so save this page as a favorite, and come back now and then.

(If needed, get Adobe Flash Player , and then click the poem links.)

If you are a child in mid-kidhood and older (or a child at heart), click a link to listen to poems about:

What trees might see when we ice skate on a lake

Winter in a little town north of NYC  (re-do)

What you might think of galoshes and boots

Building a snow zoo

The snow that didn't happen

How a pony starred in a Christmas pageant

Memory of a daughter at 10

Taking a ferry to Martha's Vineyard island

How a little boy handles his crummy little sisters

What a little girl liked about a city park

What a little girl didn't like about going to the doctor

How you feel on the first night in a summer cabin

Watching toy planes at war

Tale of two sisters going out in a rowboat

What a hawk thinks

What alligators in the Everglades swamp think of a photographer

If a town could talk:

  • Rye
  • Tuckahoe
  • Mount Kisco

At a Renaissance Fair with my fair ladies

Now that you've heard some poems, you could
:

  • Draw a picture about a poem.
  • Take a look at my artwork.
  • Write your own poem.
  • Find another poem to hear on the internet.
  • See a satellite view of a place I mention in a poem.
  • Write an e-mail to me and tell me what you like.

Thanks for visiting!

Dear parent or grandparent,
It's obvious, you care about raising your child to be a full human being. If you ever wonder what you can do to foster your child's compassion, visit the sites listed below to see how you can help:

Feed the children

Bring Clean Water to the World's Families

Heal the sick children

Fix children's broken smiles
